The smoked isn't purified once, but four times, travelling through five different spaces. First the smoke enters a small reservoir that you can fill with cold water. The smoke then goes to a larger reservoir that can also be filled with water. From there the smoke is split up, moving through two small reservoirs, coming together in the last area, from which filtered, cooled down smoke can be inhaled.
The position of the mouthpiece can be adjusted and all glass parts can be disconnected, so that all reservoirs can easily be filled with water.
